Friends, I’d like to share a little bit of joy that the DMV sent me today. Being a dyed-in-the-wool horror fan in nearly every way, I thought it would be appropriate to get a plate for my car that lets everyone know how manic I am about my interests.
So what could I choose? The easy ones like “ZOMBIE” or “UNDEAD” wouldn’t cut it. Oh no, we’d need something with a little flair. The first time through I tried for “MUERTO”. Takes a moment to sort out, if you’re not familiar with a little basic Spanish.
Six to eight weeks ago, I received a letter indicating that I couldn’t have it. According to the DMV that would be “objectionable and / or offensive”. !? WTF ?! This sounds like a challenge! So I decided to try for one of the following: “GIALLO”, “GHOUL” and .. wait for it… “BLACULA”.
Today I received the tabs and registration letter indicating that I got “BLACULA”! Seriously. I can only hope that nay-sayers get the humor of it, or see that fun aside I did this to prove a point. This is going on a Roush 427R Mustang, so at the very least when I hit the gas it’ll be so you can SCREAM, BLACULA, SCREAM!
HA! Blacula! That’s a hoot.
